Devil’s Towerĭevil’s Tower is a 1,267-foot high butte in the Black Hills, a rock-climbing mecca and popular destination for tourists from all over the world. The roads are mostly flat and open, with gradual changes in elevation and easy turns. During the fall, the aspens, oaks, and birches paint a stunning picture of blended gold, yellow, and orange. You’ll see more rock formations, cliffs, ranches, and small towns dotting the countryside on this ride. Bikers are welcome, especially in August when the city hosts its annual motorcycle rally. You can stop in Hulett, a small town situated on the Belle Fourche River. The Lasso (Alternate Route)įor a more direct route and a smoother ride, you can take I-90 toward Beulah to ride “The Lasso.” You’ll exit the interstate and drive up Route 111 toward the tiny town of Aladdin, where you’ll start heading west on a loop leading to Devil’s Tower. You’ll also find many trails to hike and places to camp along the way. The highway meanders pretty far south, but the detour is worth it for the scenery, twisting turns, and switchbacks. Bridal Falls is halfway down and has accessible parking, making it the perfect place to stop and rest while admiring the beautiful waterfalls.Īt Cheyenne Crossing, take Route 85 to Four Corners and head back north toward Sundance via Route 585. When you arrive in Spearfish, hop off of I-90 and take the Spearfish Canyon Highway to Cheyenne Crossing. To start your journey, take I-90 north toward Spearfish.
